Washing Machine Trauma!

Last weekend our washing machine decided to pack it in. I rang around to get prices on service companies to come out to repair it and it was not looking cheap!. The average was $120 just to show up and then $25 per 15mins after that plus parts.
Mrs Squeak then decided that it would be easier to just buy a new one. So we did. I done some investigations and price scouting during the week and came up with a list of places with the best deals/prices on the machine we wanted.

Before we purchased the new one we headed out to Minno (Minto - but there is no T in Minno) to look at a display home. On the way back we dropped into the Crossroads home centre to check prices there. First stop Bing Lee. The price on the machine was $899 but on special for $877. I asked the sales person for thebest price and he gave me $799. I then proceeded to tell him I have a better price without any negotiations from Bing Lee in Penrith which was $735. He spoke to his manager and said the best he could do was $730 but I had to buy the extended warranty. Ah NO thanks! The whole way out we were discussing how this could be.

We walked out and returned to Penrith where we made the purchase from Harvey Norman who undercut everyone and gave service of 100% even after my experience there a few days before. Stay clear of Bing Lee Crossroads and I don't need to tell you this but shop around This was an example of highway robbery!

Favourite Photos - Jellybean Pool

Trying a little positive note. Here are a few photos that I took. This is my first real attempt at this type of photography. Let me know what you think.

Joys of eBay

I recently purchased a Mini GPS recorder from eBay on the advice of some friends that it would make geo-tagging my photos easier. This I do not doubt but the problem is, is it does not work. The item purchased is a photoMate mini GPS Recorder 887 Lite. It was pretty much DOA. It does not save any data when it is tracking. To rectify this situation I must now send it back to Taiwan, and await the seller to send it back to the manufacturer, then receive the verdict. I am quite sure it is broken as I also had a friend who has the exact same device test it out for me, and it failed. To add to the hurt the seller (navi-world) is a piss poor communicator and it takes days for them to respond to any communication. I should just start a case with eBay and let them deal with it. It is going to cost $20 to send it back. The unit is only worth $30. Question is: Do I cut my losses and buy a new one or follow this through?

Favourite Photo - Flying Embers

I had only recently gotten my camera and Got called away with the RFS to head to a large fire burning in Nowra. I took my camera along to experiment with it at night as I was doing the night shift on the fireground. I took this photo when the wind came up and I noticed the trail being left in the air by the embers. I was amazed at how it turned out, seeing that I had no idea about settings or f stop or anything to do with my camera at the time.
